Quick workouts for the time-strapped in 2021

We asked our alignment expert, Lauren Roxburgh, to offer some workouts on the quick when time is of the essence.

How we spend our time and energy has certainly shifted this year. Some of us have gained more from not commuting, allowing more self-care and time with loved ones. Others now have bigger demands — with children in online school and working full time from home. So, trying to fit in exercise, daily rituals and eating well can be a juggle among other responsibilities.

However, it’s important to reshape our wellness habits as we navigate this new reality. When we make time to move, breathe and workout each day, we awaken our systems, boost our metabolism, feel better, become more focused and more efficient, motivated and productive in what we do. There are some amazingly effective and great at-home workouts...all you need is some inspiration, your miraculous body, some space and minimal equipment. Here are my go-to easy and quick total body workouts:

Rebounding To start, 10 minutes a day is the ideal time to devote to rebounding. You can increase to 20-30 minutes. Rebounding burns more fat and improves cardio better than running by 50%.

Pilates & Yoga Slow focused movements from Pilates to yoga is an effective way to develop a strong core and work different muscle groups. You can also use the Body Sphere or Foam Roller with some of these moves. Or a resistance band workout to grow and tone muscles.

Somatic Dance With no set ‘rules’ to free-flow dance and perform somatic movement all you need is a good playlist and to move with internal awareness of your body. Somatic dance helps you to be creative physically, emotionally and cognitively.

Jump Rope Skipping is accessible, effective and can be adapted to almost any fitness level. It combines upper-body coordination with a lower-body workout.
